I was a former CEO, deputy city manager, and litigator. So I know what it means to be ambitious and driven. I also know what it can cost. I built a seemingly enviable and successful career doing everything “right.” I checked every box. The education. ⭐️ The relationships. ⭐️ The long hours ⭐️ The constant performing.⭐️ From the outside, it was impressive.

Inside, it was a totally different story. I was a hot mess (and not in the good way)!!

I was constantly second-guessing myself more than I trusted myself. I was looking for validation from everyone and anyone, because I couldn’t seem to generate on my own. I always felt the pressure to prove, produce, know the solution, and have it all together at work and at home. My body carried it too, in the form of constant stress, exhaustion, and sometimes complete fear. As a result I had what the emergency room cardiologist believed was a stress induced heart attack one week before my 48th birthday.

And I know I’m not the only woman who has felt and lived what I have.

So many capable, and accomplished women like you, are living versions of this same story. You’re desperate for something, anything, to change, and you’re afraid it never will. Regardless, it cannot be at the expense of everything you’ve worked so hard for, and sacrificed to build.
